Today has been a good day.
I haven't felt tired today. Today is a sickie feeling day instead. I seem to get one or the other, which is a lot better than both at once.
I was due to have a tooth out today but the dentist decided to clean it up a bit and put a temporary filler in instead. That suited me as I wasn't too keen on having the tooth out now I know I'm pregnant. I was also booked in for a air polish and now sport super sparkly clean teeth.
Not having my tooth out left we with some spare time so I headed off to the doctors over an hour early (I would've been early anyway) and got seen early, which was nice.
The midwife was nice. I'd been dreading a lecture over my weight, but the midwife didn't say anything about it. I grabbed the bull by the horns and said "Obviously I have a big problem with my weight, and I want to minimise the damage." She said she doesn't recommend trying to diet (or maintain) during pregnancy and just to be sensible. Lots of lean meat, plenty of fruit and veg, enough calcium for baby and a small amount of carbs.
She gave me some literature to read about the scans and tests for Downs Syndrome and said she'll be in contact about the scan, which will be with her.
All in all it was much better than I expected! I've been very happy since :)
Awwwww sounds like a good day then hun :o) yeh they don't recommend doing n e kind of diet when you're pregnant. They do say you sometimes lose weight before you start putting it on due to morning sickness etc. Just eat when you feel hungry and not for the sake of eating for two and you should be fine or swap those unhealthy snacks for some fruit or summet :o) xXx
ReplyDeleteFantastic result with both. Im so pleased youve got a nice midwife. Have they referred you to a specialist for your weight? Apparently if your BMI is over 30, you have to see a specialist. They made me go to one.
ReplyDeleteHer advice sounds sensible. Great to hear she'll be doing the scan as well. Excellent. It'll be nice to have someone familiar to see each time you go in!

As I said on the phone, she sounds brilliant!! xxx
ReplyDeleteMost women eat normally their whole lives Kelly, and eat for two when they're pregnant. I'm doing it the other way round. Aside from an Indian I had tonight (or half of one, I always eat half cold the next day!) I've been quite virtuous. I've totally gone off crisps. I've had one packet since I've been pregnant. I'm getting loads of fruit, veg and salad in.
ReplyDeleteYeah I've gotta see a consultant Lis, but she didn't say "Oh, your BMI is high so you have to see a consultant." She just said "I'll refer you to a consultant." I was expecting it anyway as you've said and so have a few other ladies on a plus size & pregnant forum I'm on.
She is nice Marina :) Do you know if it's safe to have a flu jab when I have a cold? Am I more likely to get flu?
