I'm Leah.
I'm 36, I have a long term illness and I'm also pregnant. I'm also an overweight woman so I expect to have some 'interesting' experiences with healthcare professionals. This is going to be the diary of my pregnancy from this very early stage (4 weeks 5 days today!) right up to the birth and beyond, if time allows.
I also blog about beauty on my main blog Plus Size Shopaholic and have another blog about my business Funki Munki Badges.
Come and say hi!
Hi Leah!
ReplyDeleteYour no 1 fan and God-mother to be has arrived:)..
As I myself have been trying for ages and are going to do an IVF sometimes in 2011 I have acqired a lot of knowledge about pregnancies and as you know I´m also a nurse, so I hope I can help you if you have any questions.
I hope I can help you aspecially when it comes to how to take care of yourself, but please tell me if I´m being a pain;). I just told P that I´m as nervous and excited as I would have been if I was pregnant myself.
Would be fun if you´d tell me/us how J reacted to the news. Did he faint, did he do somersaults peraps?! xxx
Hello Godmother! :D
ReplyDeleteAll advice is welcome!! I'm going to keep active but not lift anything heavy, try not to each much processed food at all, and it goes without saying to avoid stimulants, alcohol, and people who smoke. I'll talk a walk every day and try to be a good incubator for my baby.
James had a tear in his eye after he saw the test. Because of the way I found out (as told in my second blog, you'll see) he thought (I think) I was going mad. When he saw the line himself he believed it. Then I jumped up and down on the floor about 8 times screaming "YES! YES! YES! YES! YES!" Then we had a hug. I was so shocked I can't remember all that happened.
I think James was still uncertain that I was actually pregnant (I KNEW I was, I could feel it!) so I did another test this morning, and again there was a second faint pink line.
So it's certain! x x x
Aww, I would have loved to see his face! Water gymnastics are greatly recomended when you are overweight and pregnant! I will start that if we are lucky:). The midwives will propably keep an extra eye on your bloodsugar levels and recomend/ try to help you from gaining more than 6 kilos instead of 12 kilos that a normalweight person should gain, but you can absolutely not diet because of all toxins that are released from your fatdepots.
ReplyDeleteOhh, this is so exciting!! xxx
:o) Cant wait to follow your progress hun. How wonderful to have such a knowledgable Godmum too!
ReplyDeleteDarren wasnt convinced when I told him either. It was a bit of an anti-climax to be honest as I found out via a second test I deffo was as he was leaving for work. I think he gave me a kiss on the head.. Hmmmmm Men!
I will go swimming Marina. I wish I had a swimming pool on the doorstep as it'll be a 90 minute walk in total(45 there and back), plus an hour of swimming, so if I can do that 3 times a week I should be as fit as a fiddle!
ReplyDeleteMen are hopeless at surprises Lis! Once James did see it was definitely positive he had tears in his eyes a couple of times :D
