I can already notice my sense of taste has changed.
Things taste much more spicy. I had a sausage sandwich this morning for breakfast. I like Asda extra special Cumberland sausages and have had them loads, but this morning I could really taste the pepper in them, something I've never noticed before. I'm not saying it's a bad thing: I love spicy food. I've also noticed how hot the Coronation chicken sandwich filler is from Asda which I'd never noticed before.
This is why I want to blog about my pregnancy, because I haven't a hope in hell of remembering everything - especially as baby brain has set in already! This morning James and I nearly had a row because I was CONVINCED I saw him pick my mobile up and put it in his pocket. I virtually had him turf out his pockets until he rang my phone, and then I remembered I'd out it in my coat pocket! I also lost my phone charger yesterday for the second time in a little over a week. I used to know where EVERYTHING was, even if it was James who put something somewhere.
I've also lost my house keys. I haven't seen them in about 5 days. I need to hunt the house out because James goes back to work on Tuesday and I'll be screwed if I want to leave the house. I know they're somewhere in the flat, I just have no idea where.
I had a tiny bit of bloody discharge yesterday, but nothing serious - no more so than if you pick your nose a bit too hard and end up with a tiny bit of blood loss :) I Googled it to make sure everything was OK. Apparently it's normal in the first trimester.
We're at my dad's at the moment. I fell asleep in the car here for a while but feel fine now. Every little tummy ache makes me worry, but I think it's just that I'm pooing extra at the moment. TMI, I know. I'm sorry!
I started this blog when I was pregnant to express how I was feeling day-to-day. I had an ectopic pregnancy on 13-1-11 and almost died after my fallopian tube burst and I lost about 2 litres of blood. Will I ever be a mum?! Only time will tell.

How I found out I was pregnant
29.12.10.
This day will stand out in my mind forever, because it's the day I found out I was going to be a mum.
I'd been having nausea and tiredness for a couple of weeks, but because of my illness (most likely Sarcoidosis) I didn't think too much of it. I was due on my period on Christmas Eve, and when I woke up and went for a pee there was a little dark discharge, just like I get before the blood arrives each period. When nothing had come by Christmas Day, nothing by Boxing Day, nothing by the next day, I started to get hopeful.
I'd been hopeful before, but I'd been late before too. I was 11 days late in April and 5 days late in October.
When I noticed my boobs were really sore and that I was having abdominal cramps, I started to get REALLY hopeful.
Yesterday I had to go to the dentists to have a tooth pulled out, and afterwards we went to the supermarket so I bought 2 tests.
On the way back from the supermarket we stopped off to buy a bed (as you do!) so when we got in I did a test there and then. I left it on the side for 2 minutes and nothing happened, so I took it out to the kitchen with a view to throwing it away. I got distracted because we had friends coming round, so only got around to picking the thing up about 10 minutes later. I was just about to put it in the bin when I noticed a faint pink line. I came into the living room, told James there was a line and stood underneath the light to see better.
Yes, there was definitely a second line! I'm so glad I looked at the test again before I threw it away. I don't know what made me do it!
I did a second test this morning just to be sure, and there were 2 lines again.
I'm going to be a mummy!
YES!!!!!!

Welcome!
I'm Leah.
I'm 36, I have a long term illness and I'm also pregnant. I'm also an overweight woman so I expect to have some 'interesting' experiences with healthcare professionals. This is going to be the diary of my pregnancy from this very early stage (4 weeks 5 days today!) right up to the birth and beyond, if time allows.
I also blog about beauty on my main blog Plus Size Shopaholic and have another blog about my business Funki Munki Badges.
